16U Girls Reach South Central Presidents Cup Final While 17U Boys Compete Among Region's Best

This past week, Villarreal Houston proudly represented both Houston and South Texas at the US Youth Soccer South Central Presidents Cup National Qualifiers in Round Rock, Texas.

The event brought together some of the top teams from Arkansas, North Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and South Texas, all competing for the opportunity to earn a coveted place at the USYS National Presidents Cup. For our club, this was more than just another tournament. It was an opportunity to showcase the growth, development, and culture that Villarreal Houston has built over the years.

Among the thousands of youth soccer players registered throughout South Texas, only a select few teams earn the right to compete at this level. Villarreal Houston was honored to have two teams representing our region and, notably, was the only academy from Northeast Houston participating in the competition.

17U Boys: Competing with Pride

Our 17U Boys entered the tournament ready to compete against some of the strongest programs in the South Central Region.

Throughout the event, the team demonstrated resilience, commitment, and character. Facing top opposition from across multiple state associations, the boys competed with determination and represented our club with pride. Although their journey ended with a third-place finish in their group, the experience gained and the level of competition faced will serve as another important step in their development.

The players, coaches, and families should be incredibly proud of what they accomplished. Simply earning the opportunity to compete on this stage is a testament to the hard work invested throughout the season.

16U Girls: One Game Short of Nationals

Our 16U Girls continued their remarkable season by advancing all the way to the South Central Presidents Cup Final.

The team displayed tremendous resilience, quality, and determination throughout the tournament, overcoming strong opposition to secure a place in the championship match. With a ticket to Nationals on the line, the girls battled until the final whistle before ultimately finishing as South Central Presidents Cup Finalists.

While falling one game short of qualification is difficult, this achievement places them among the top teams in the region and highlights the incredible progress this group has made.

To be one match away from the USYS National Presidents Cup is an accomplishment that few teams ever experience, and these young women represented Villarreal Houston, Houston, and South Texas with distinction.
