This past weekend, Villarreal Houston’s oldest academy teams delivered a powerful statement at the Texas Easter Cup in Houston, showcasing the strength of our development model and the dedication of our players and coaches.

We are proud to announce that our 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 boys teams all finished the tournament as champions, capping off a weekend filled with high-level competition, determination, and a commitment to our identity on the field.

Standout Performances

Among the many great moments, two victories stood out as defining highlights of the tournament:

  • Our 2009 boys secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Aspire SCL (State Classic League) in a thrilling final that showcased their grit, discipline, and defensive strength.

  • Our 2010 boys displayed attacking flair and composure, defeating Houstonian Soccer Club with a convincing 3-1 victory to claim their title.

  • Our 2011 boys standout moments of the tournament came in dramatic fashion — down 1-0, reduced to 10 players, and with everything on the line… the team showed incredible character, discipline, and determination to turn the game around and win 2-1, securing their place in the final.

  • Our 2012 boys Not only did they lift the trophy, but they also went the entire tournament without conceding a single goal, keeping clean sheets against top-tier teams like ACDMY, Lonestar, and Matias Almeyda Soccer Club.

These wins weren’t just about the scores — they reflected the values we teach every day through the Villarreal methodology: playing with intelligence, discipline, and a love for the game.

Built on Long-Term Development

At Villarreal Houston, we believe in long-term development over short-term results. That philosophy was evident all weekend long. Each team’s success was rooted in a consistent approach to the game, one that mirrors the Spanish style Villarreal CF is known for — possession-based play, building from the back, and developing strong technical and tactical foundations in every player.

More Than Trophies

While we’re thrilled with the hardware, what makes us most proud is seeing our players mature, evolve, and apply what they’ve learned over months and years of training. The progress was clear on the field, and this weekend was a celebration of that journey.

**Congratulations to all
